I agree with you as far as some of Christian group giving Christians a bad name by spouting their mouth off on this whole "War on Christmas" thing. And believe me, being the equal opportunity kind of noggin-knocker that I am, I'm just as fed up with these Ass Clowns as I am the ones that pucker their pooter when you say Merry Christmas!

In fact, I believe that it's the "War On Christmas" Ass Clowns that fuel the other side of the tree to start flinging their poo! It all goes back to my oringal rant (See Political Rant I). Ass Clowns pitch the shit everywhere and the Crack Monkeys eat it with a spoon and parrot it back because they don't know any fucking better!

Only this time, the Baby Jesus and Santa are caught up with the pooper-scooper.

Oh man, TJR...I had this argument with my dad just the other day. It has nothing to do with people saying Merry Christmas and people's sensibilities. It has everything to do with how businesses choose to greet people during this time of year. Funny thing, there happens to be a lot of people who celebrate this time of year and not all of them are Christians. There's Hanuka, Kwanzaa, the winter solstice (yes, people celebrate that). But, the poor persecuted Christians are having their federal holiday under assault because someone chooses to say Happy Holidays.

Jon Stewart said that perhaps that people say happy holidays because you are combining merry Christmas and a happy new year. You could say the whole thing, but as he says, maybe you've "got shit to do."

Problem is this is nothing more than manufactured outrage provided by some talking heads that desperately need something to yell at during this special season where we are supposed to be nice to each other. Hey, it's good business for them too as "the War on Christmas" is pulling a tidy amount of money for those outraged groups who found a way to turn their so-called angst into a seasonal cash-cow. Ho-ho-ho!

I really don't think that people have problem with you, or any individual, saying Merry Christmas. But if we're going to get our undies in a bundle over this, well...it just doesn't seem that Christmas is very Christian any more.

And that, my friend, is irony.

Thanks for the vote of support, tb.

See, the thing is... it's not just the matter of being turned down for the Financial Aid itself. Its the timing and the manner that it was delivered and handled by the SSIHAPOS that just shot my blood pressure through the frickin' roof!

Bottom line: She (the DOFA/SSIHAPOS) is refusing to do her job! If you look at the South Dakota Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators Mission Statement (http://www.sdasfaa.org), you'll see that everything that she's done so far this year is DIRECTLY AGAINST what she is SUPPOSED to be about.

Futhermore, my lady Wynter is not the only one that the SSIHAPOS giving this piss-poor level of service to. We've heard from sources in NSU where a freshman with a full-ride schollarship received an EMAIL (not a call or a letter) the day before classes start, telling her that she needs to change one of her required classes (which was a Pass/Fail type class) or she would be denied for ALL of her Financia Aid. This scared freshman went to SSIHAPOS's office to find out what she could do. SSIHAPOS said "Well, you're just going to have to do that on your own." and REFUSED to speak with he further.

In essence "Well, you're just going to have to do that on your own" is the same thing as saying "Well, I don't feel like doing my job." By that logic, if she doesn't want to do her job... then she should seriously consider stepping aside and letting someone that WANTS TO DO THE F*&%ING JOB! Then she can go turn her nose up at the "common folk" that just not worthy of her time WHILE SHE'S FLIPPING BURGERS IN THE CAFETERIA OR FROM HER FARM OUT IN BUM-F*&% NOWHERE!

Ok.... I feel better now. I feel even better when I see SSIHAPOS on the side of the road collecting cans to pay for gas to her burger-flipping job!

Good God man. What a horrible experience to go through. Speaking from personal experience, I know what it can be like when you get into the upper register of credit hours for a school and what that can do to you financially. I hope everything worked out for you.

Let me be the first to say, congratulations. That is a truly remarkable feat even in A-town. Many of us wouldn't walk 6 blocks to campus in the summer, let alone kill the car for 4 months.

OK, follow me here.... I'm working backwards!

As far is having "time to dick around with something that stupid:.... I agree 150%! That's really the overall point of the blog. You've got the Parish, who is blowing money that could be used for actually helping their residents come close to some resemblance of "normal" and make sure they're ready before the next big hurricane hits (and it will... you know it will).

As far as the ACLU "jumping to speak".... it's not the jumping I have so much of a problem with... its jumping with the "I'm With Stupid" next the big FEMA trailer that's a little vexing.

As far has "being held to someone's beliefs" in death.... again, I do agree with you, but only to an extent. As far as I can see, St. Bernard's Parish is a predomiately Cathoic community. So, those outside the Catholic faith (I would assume, and you know what that gets you :D ) had a pretty good idea going in that they would get exposed to that sort of thing. Not it makes it any more or less right, but it would be like the one white guy that shows up at the last minute at a Black Panthers rally insisting that they play polka because he's offended by African music.

My point being that you have a religous base group and a watchdog group both making asses of themselves while people in that area are still without the basics. Both of them should be shoved into the washer and hit high spin on extra cold and throw a bunch of tacks in for good meausure! :X
